Distance

Across hills, valleys, and plains,
Lives a friend who still remains

Unseen, but not unheard.
A little crazy, but not absurd.

Everyday she makes me smile
Though we're separated by miles

Our friendship grows with every chance
We get to share a tale of this dance

That we live from day to day
And of the things that pass our way

These bonds grow at a steady pace
All despite life's prolonged race

So as we walk together we learn,
Along the way what it is to yearn,

And along this path we find
How it is parallel and yet intertwined

I was talking to a friend the other night and she commented on having never been given a poem...so I decided to try.

I am fairly happy with it since it does rhyme (for the most part) and yet manages to convey some feelings.
